I’m an experienced, dedicated, award-winning & award-nominated director of acclaimed (SEE PRESS PAGE), long-form factual films for: BBC TV; Sky; RTE; History Channel/A&E. These include biographies, presenter-led films to ones approached more thematically. Some were also part of landmark factual series.

The films I’ve directed are of a consistently high standard. They are intelligent, accessible & moving, with some of them being considered the definitive film on the subject. My films are often repeated & have achieved high ratings for their respective channels.

I’m signed to the UK’s premier agency for factual TV directors.

I’m most passionate about: popular culture, history/social history, politics & music, and am an authority on various aspects within these subjects.

I have considerable storytelling abilities. I create engaging, very watchable narratives that have a big emotional impact. I was nominated for ‘Best Documentary’ at the Irish Film & Television Awards (IFTA’s).

I have a sharp editorial eye as well as a strong visual imagination, the latter helping me to win the FOCAL International Award. A former features journalist (SEE JOURNALISM PAGE), I also excel at writing scripts.

I’m a skilled interviewer, bringing out the best in a very wide range of contributors – SEE INTERVIEWEES.

I’ve directed many foreign shoots & reconstructions as well as drone, car-rig & green screen studio shoots.

What originally inspired me to enter this world were classic documentaries like the BBC’s UNDER THE SUN series; PBS’s civil rights opus EYES ON THE PRIZE; the tale of two teenage aspiring basketball players in HOOP DREAMS; the BBC’s iconic ARENA series; James Marsh’s very first film, TROUBLE MAN: THE LAST YEARS OF MARVIN GAYE.
